Recap: Central Raiders vs. Goessel Bluebirds
The Central Raiders put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Goessel 60-12 at home. Fans of Central have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
It was another big night for Jace Wunderlich, who threw for 252 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Wunderlich is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Russ Smith, who picked up 100 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Goessel to a paltry 158 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Central's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Kaden Miller and his two sacks.
Central's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points per game. As for Goessel, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Cair Paravel at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cair Paravel knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Central likes a good challenge. Goessel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
