Basketball Recap: Lovett Gets the Win

It's playoff time, and Lovett had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Whitefield Academy WolfPack by a score of 62-54 on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 27-27 at the break, but the Lions were the better team in the second half.

Whitefield Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Emahni Chambliss, who went 8-for-17 to rack up 24 points and five steals, and Hailey Houlder, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 35.2% of Whitefield Academy's points, marking the third time in a row Houlder has posted more than a third of the team's points. Amelia Newman was another key player, putting up six points along with five boards and three steals.

Lovett's victory bumped their record up to 16-11. As for Whitefield Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-12.

Coming up, Lovett will challenge Holy Innocents Episcopal at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Holy Innocents Episcopal will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Lovett surely won't give up without a fight. Whitefield Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
