Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Williamsville South

Williamsville South entered their tilt with Sweet Home on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 5-1. That's two games straight that the Billies have won by exactly four runs.

Alyssa Budzinski made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nicole Miller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Noelle Jurkowski, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Williamsville South hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.

Williamsville South pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sweet Home, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, Williamsville South will host Williamsville East at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sweet Home, they are taking a road trip to square off against Orchard Park at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Quakers have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
