The Southern Wells Raiders will venture away from home to take on the Fort Wayne North Side Legends at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Southern Wells has three straight victories, Fort Wayne North Side has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Southern Wells got the win against Lakewood Park Christian by a conclusive 13-3.

Alexis Pennington made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenzie Paxson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two triples, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Remi Holmes, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Southern Wells was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .607. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Fort Wayne North Side's offense. They came up short against Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran on Monday, falling 16-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Legends' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Southern Wells' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-19. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Fort Wayne North Side, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
Southern Wells took their win against Fort Wayne North Side in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 26-8 score. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Legends have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
