Griffin School has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the San Juan Diego Catholic Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 59-21, which was the final score in Griffin School's tilt against Austin Waldorf on Tuesday. Griffin School has struggled against Austin Waldorf recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, San Juan Diego Catholic pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-55 bruising from Austin Achieve.
San Juan Diego Catholic's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Max Duarte, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds, and Armando Garza who scored 19 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Duarte scored a full 32.7% of San Juan Diego Catholic's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Aidan McCormick was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
The losses dropped Griffin School to 0-3 and Austin Waldorf to 3-2.
Griffin School was dealt a bruising 90-50 loss at the hands of San Juan Diego Catholic in their previous matchup back in February of 2022. Can Griffin School avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
