Baseball Game Preview: Euclid Panthers vs. Cleveland Central Catholic Ironmen

The Euclid Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Cleveland Central Catholic Ironmen at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cleveland Central Catholic took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Euclid, who comes in off a win.

While Euclid's victory against Glenville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-12 win over the Tarblooders on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Malik Abdul-Wali was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Shockey, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Euclid always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Cleveland Central Catholic was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They lost 21-2 to Brooklyn.

Euclid's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Cleveland Central Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Euclid took their win against Cleveland Central Catholic in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 14-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
