Baseball Recap: Father Mcgivney Catholic Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Father McGivney Catholic had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it 13 on Monday. They put the hurt on the Southwestern Piasa Birds with a sharp 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Griffins, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Nobody will forget Chase Kelley's heroic performance anytime soon (especially Southwestern's batters): he turned in a perfect game. Kelley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Justin Terhaar was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Wendler, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Father McGivney Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Father McGivney Catholic's win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Southwestern, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
