Baseball Recap: Valley Christian's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Valley Christian waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Apache Junction Prospectors as they made off with an 11-1 win. Considering the Trojans have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Carson Grier, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Caleb Danzeisen, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Grier wasn't the only one making solid contact: Valley Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.

Valley Christian pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Apache Junction, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.

Coming up, Valley Christian will look to defend their home field on Friday against Snowflake at 6:30 p.m. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lobos have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Apache Junction, they will head out to face off against Seton Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Sentinels' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Prospectors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
