Basketball Game Preview: Berthoud Spartans vs. Thompson Valley Eagles

Berthoud is 1-9 against Thompson Valley since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Spartans will look to defend their home court against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Berthoud came into their game last Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They took a blow against Severance, falling 94-46. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-20.

Jayce Newbill put forth a good effort for the losing side as he shot 47% from the field on his way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Callies, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Thompson Valley played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Severance, falling 71-46. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Silver Knights: they've now lost six in a row.

Berthoud now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Thompson Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
