Baseball Game Preview: Emerald Ridge Jaguars vs. Sumner Spartans

The Emerald Ridge Jaguars will take on the Sumner Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Emerald Ridge comes in on eight and Sumner on three.

Emerald Ridge came out on top against Lake Stevens on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Jaguars were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Vikings.

Meanwhile, Sumner owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Graham-Kapowsin 2-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Sumner got a great performance from Garrett Levenhagen as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Sumner's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Prunty, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Emerald Ridge's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Sumner, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
