Volleyball Recap: Daisy Luna Casas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cypress Lakes over Cypress Park

Cypress Lakes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Cypress Park Tigers. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

While Cypress Lakes had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18.

Cypress Lakes' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daisy Luna Casas, who had four digs and three aces. Paige McMillan also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Cypress Lakes' loss dropped their record down to 10-27. As for Cypress Park, the victory snapped their losing streak at nine matches and leaves them with a 7-22 record.

Cypress Lakes and Cypress Park could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Spartans will take on Waller at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (684 vs. 182). Meanwhile, Cypress Park (ranked 995th) will meet Cypress Ranch (ranked 26th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
