Baseball Recap: Mt. Diablo Red Devils vs. Las Lomas Knights
Mt. Diablo extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-15 in the process. They came up short against the Las Lomas Knights, falling 21-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-2 on Tuesday.
Mt. Diablo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joel Zamora Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Zamora Martinez has hit this season.
As for Las Lomas, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-8-1. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
On Las Lomas' side, Aidan Thorner looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Thorner a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, John Sellick was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Andrew Misasi, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Diablo will square off against Hayward at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Las Lomas, they will challenge Berean Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
