Recap: Clarksville Generals vs. Austin Eagles
The Clarksville Generals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 78-56 defeat at the hands of Austin. While losing is never fun, Clarksville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while Austin is ranked 109th).
Despite the loss, Clarksville saw an underclassman step up: Jayonna Shirley dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Tiarra Lewis, who scored 17 points.
Clarksville bumped their record down to 2-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Austin, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-4.
