Baseball Recap: Midland Trail Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Midland Trail ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They skirted past the Webster County Highlanders 6-5. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Highlanders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Kolton Eades and Preston Eades made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Eades didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Preston tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Midland Trail is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-16 otherwise. At bat, Eades went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base, while Preston went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gregory Cramer, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Midland Trail's record now sits at 9-17. As for Webster County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Midland Trail will welcome Greenbrier West at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Webster County, they will host Richwood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
