Basketball Recap: Caledonia Fighting Scots vs. Rockford Rams
The Caledonia Fighting Scots lost against the Rockford Rams back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Caledonia took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams. Caledonia has not had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the loss, Caledonia had strong showings from Jaiden Googins, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds, and Kyan Vanderwoude, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Googins hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games.
Caledonia's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Rockford, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 13-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caledonia's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hudsonville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Fighting Scots in Michigan (the Eagles are ranked 20th, while the Fighting Scots are ranked 109th). As for Rockford, they will head out on the road to face off against the Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grand Haven knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully the Rams like a good challenge.
