Basketball Recap: Clinton Comes Up Short

If Clinton was feeling good fresh off their 54-34 takedown of Murrah last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Clinton Arrows lost 57-35 to the Tupelo Golden Wave on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Arrows can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Golden Wave are ranked fourth).

When it comes to explaining why Clinton lost, don't look at Jatoi Johnson. Despite the final result, she went 7 of 11 on her way to 16 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Eatmon, who went 5 for 11 en route to 10 points.

The loss snapped Clinton's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 20-8 record. As for Tupelo, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-3.

Clinton has already played their next game (against Germantown), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Tupelo will take on Starkville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Tupelo's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests.
