Amarillo's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They took down the Monterey Plainsmen 37-21. The Sandies haven't had any issues with the Plainsmen recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Amarillo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jude Dunavin, who rushed for 135 yards and one TD, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. Tate Blackwell was in the mix as well, providing the Sandies with two touchdowns.

Amarillo's record is now 4-1. As for Monterey, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amarillo will square off against Abilene at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Monterey, they will challenge Coronado at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The Plainsmen will be up against the Mustangs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
