Baseball Recap: Skyline Takes a Loss

Skyline had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 6-16 to make it six. They fell 5-2 to the Bountiful Redhawks. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Redhawks this season, with their most recent loss being a 9-8 defeat on Wednesday.

Skyline saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Muse, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Bountiful, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games.

On Bountiful's side, Quintin Garff tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Garff also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Redhawks are 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Tait Caldwell was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mickey Willis, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Skyline will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Viewmont at 4:00 p.m. on May 4. As for Bountiful, they will head out on the road to take on Alta at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Redhawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
