Baseball Recap: Poth's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Poth barely beat Taft the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Poth Pirates put the hurt on the Taft Greyhounds with a sharp 13-4 victory on Friday. With that win, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Poth got a massive performance out of Major Luna, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits Luna has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaden Steward, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Poth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Poth, bringing their record for this year to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Taft, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5-1.

Coming up, Poth will be taking part in a tournament against Ben Bolt at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Taft, they will be playing at home against Edna at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Taft has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
