League recap: Appling County extends winning streak with victory over Savannah

Appling County extended the longest winning streak in AAA Region 1 this week by beating Savannah, 39-22. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

Beach moved up to 293 from 342 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of a 33-21 win over the Bulldogs.

Johnson's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Darrell Myers threw for 14 yards and Rekwan Cooper had 14 yards receiving. On the ground Corbin Mitchell chipped in 168 yards.

The Bluejackets' Jovante Spivey and Jermaine Williams have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Spivey has thrown for 364 yards this season, while Williams, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has four catches for 142 yards. Mitchell from the Atomsmashers leads the league in rushing with 420 yards.

Beach made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,959 from 9,374. The advance stemmed from a 33-21 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
