Basketball Recap: Newport Takes a Loss

Newport lost against Philomath back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Newport Cubs took a blow against the Philomath Warriors, falling 52-15. The matchup marked the Cubs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Newport dropped their record down to 5-10 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Philomath, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-3.

While Newport had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
