Baseball Recap: Licking Heights Comes Up Short

Licking Heights duked it out with Mt. Vernon in a bug-themed battle on Friday. The Hornets lost 8-1 to the Yellowjackets. That's two games in a row now that the Hornets have lost by exactly seven runs.

Licking Heights saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Richard Hill II, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Licking Heights and nudges their season record down to 3-15. As for Mt. Vernon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Licking Heights will welcome Newark Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dublin Coffman at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in the Yellowjackets' favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while the Shamrocks have been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road.
