The biggest upset of the week belonged to Westbury, who took down 290th ranked Madison, 22-21.
Lamar extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region III District 20 this week by beating Houston Math Science & Tech, 76-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Redskins.
Lamar's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Darrell Colbert threw for 110 and one touchdown and Joshua Stewart had 27 yards receiving. On the ground Darius Durall chipped in 79 yards. James Williams helped Lamar's passing attack out by catching one ball for 23 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Colbert of Tom Nolen's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1087. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. On the ground, Westside's Xavier Holman has rushed for 610 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Bobby Hartzog. The Westside star has 20 catches for 448 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Redskins take on the Marlins. At the moment, Lamar is in first, while Madison is in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Redskins take on Pat Reineke's team. Lamar has allowed 56 points this season, while the Marlins have given up 159. The Redskins allowed 7 points last week as they beat the Tigers.
The Rebels moved up to 623 from 762 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region III District 20. Westbury climbed the ranks as a result of beating Madison 22-21.
