Basketball Game Preview: Winthrop Ramblers vs. Madison Bulldogs

The Winthrop Ramblers will challenge the Madison Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Winthrop comes in on eight and Madison on three.

Winthrop will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Maranacook, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Winthrop breezed by Maranacook to the tune of 59-21 on Wednesday. The Ramblers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Madison beat Mountain Valley 43-39 last Thursday.

Winthrop pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.9 points per game. As for Madison, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Winthrop was taken down by Madison 53-25 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Winthrop avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
