Basketball Recap: Dowling Catholic Drops Season-High Score on Papillion-Lavista South

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dowling Catholic). They took their matchup on Saturday with ease, bagging an 82-41 win over the Papillion-LaVista South Titans. Given the Maroons' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked second in Iowa, while the Titans are ranked 99th in Nebraska), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Titans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maizey Macke, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 12 points. Jenna Stenger was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Dowling Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Papillion-LaVista South, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Dowling Catholic will look to defend their home court on Friday against Ankeny at 6:15 p.m. Dowling Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Ankeny likes a good challenge. As for Papillion-LaVista South, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-64 loss against Omaha Central on the 28th.
