Softball Recap: Mt. Vernon Wildcats vs. Evansville Bosse Bulldogs

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mt. Vernon had no problem doing just that on Monday. Everything went their way against the Evansville Bosse Bulldogs as they made off with a 12-1 victory. With that win, Mt. Vernon brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Alaina Allyn was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Allyn has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Allyn was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Hannah West was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Raycee Stallings, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
