Softball Game Preview: Buckeye Trail Warriors vs. Conotton Valley Rockets

Buckeye Trail is 1-8-1 against Conotton Valley since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Rockets at 5:00 p.m.

Buckeye Trail is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game last Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Conotton Valley. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by just one run.

For Conotton Valley's part, Ava Williams made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Williams was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddison Kelley, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Brooklyn Davis also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Conotton Valley's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Buckeye Trail, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
