Volleyball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Lake Central's Winning Streak

After flying high against Merrillville on Thursday, Lake Central came back down to earth. The Indians fell 3-1 to the Hamilton Southeastern Royals on Saturday. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Royals when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Lake Central's offense was headlined by Kailey Skurka and Alexa Iwema, who picked up nine kills apiece. They got some help from Isabella Steliga and her 14 assists. Brooklyn Barth controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

With the loss, Lake Central broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-5. As for Hamilton Southeastern, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

Lake Central has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Westfield on the 13th. As for Hamilton Southeastern, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Cathedral on the 13th.
