Recap: Alvin Yellowjackets vs. Alief Elsik Rams
The Alvin Yellowjackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 56-42 bruising from Alief Elsik. Alvin has not had much luck with Alief Elsik recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Alvin saw an underclassman step up: Juan Salas scored ten points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Salas has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Trey Falcon, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Alief Elsik got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ricky Wilson out in front who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Tim Ofesi was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 14 rebounds.
Alvin has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-22 record this season. As for Alief Elsik, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-17.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alvin will take on Alief Hastings at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Alvin is coming into the match with six straight defeats on the road, meaning Alief Hastings will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Alief Elsik, they will challenge Dawson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Alief Elsik focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Wednesday.
