Basketball Recap: George Jenkins Comes Up Short

George Jenkins lost against Auburndale back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The George Jenkins Eagles took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Auburndale Bloodhounds. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while the Bloodhounds are ranked 141st).

Despite the loss, George Jenkins still got an impressive performance from Maso Pierpont, who posted 18 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Pierpont a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mordecai Lefluer, who had ten points.

Even though they lost, George Jenkins smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Auburndale only pulled down eight offensive boards.

DEREK RAMIREZ was the offensive standout of the game as he made all 7 shots he took racking up 16 points. Aiden Curry was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

George Jenkins now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Auburndale, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5.

George Jenkins has already played their next contest (against East Ridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Auburndale has already played their next match, a 67-55 win against Davenport on the 21st.
