Football Preview: Westran Hornets vs. Gallatin/Tri-County
The Westran Hornets will head out on the road to challenge Gallatin/Tri-County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westran will be strutting in after a victory while Gallatin/Tri-County will be coming in after a defeat.
Westran is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Fayette last Friday. Westran came out on top against Fayette by a score of 34-21.
Westran's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Gage Adler, who threw for 159 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes, and Marshall Kitchen, who picked up 41 receiving yards and two touchdowns. An impressive showing, but Kitchen really ramped things up playing D: he forced a fumble and made six total tackles in addition to snagging an interception which he returned for a touchdown.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Westran was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 202 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Westran wouldn't let Fayette keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Westran can thank Treydence Chapman and Kitchen for forcing both of them.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 34 points the game before, Gallatin/Tri-County was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They lost 35-12 to Trenton.
The win got Westran back to even at 2-2. As for Gallatin/Tri-County, they dropped their record down to 2-2 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
