Basketball Recap: Sterling Hoarde's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rockford East over Wheaton-Warrenville South

Rockford East lost against Wheaton-Warrenville South back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Rockford East E-Rabs fell just short of the Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers by a score of 59-56. While losing is never fun, the E-Rabs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Tigers are ranked 81st).

Rockford East's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sterling Hoarde, who posted 14 points. Marquis Goldsmith was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 boards.

Rockford East has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. As for Wheaton-Warrenville South, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-5.

Rockford East has already played their next game (against Belvidere North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Wheaton-Warrenville South has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Geneva.
