Baseball Game Preview: Warren Warriors vs. Stevens Falcons

Warren and Stevens are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2020, but likely not for long. The Warren Warriors will square off against the Stevens Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

On Tuesday, Warren beat Stevens 7-3. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Alex Garza made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last five contests. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other pitching news, James Hinojosa looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Joaquin Guerra was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Warren is undefeated when Guerra posts two or more runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Adrian Lopez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Warren hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Warren's record now sits at 6-7. As for Stevens, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Warren has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Stevens struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
