Basketball Game Preview: Powdersville Patriots vs. Southside Christian Sabres

Powdersville has won four straight games at home, while Southside Christian has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The two teams will face off at 6:30 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Powdersville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.3 points per game this season.

On Tuesday, everything went Powdersville's way against Christ Church Episcopal as Powdersville made off with a 48-24 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-7.

Powdersville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makayla Assemian led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. The game was Assemian's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Davidson, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds.

Powdersville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Southside Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Palmetto on Tuesday, taking the game 46-36. Given the Sabres' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Mustangs are ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Powdersville is also on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Southside Christian, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
