Baseball Recap: Okeechobee Has No Trouble Against Sebastian River

Okeechobee extended their postseason success on Thursday against Sebastian River. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Sharks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 back in February.

Mason Kindell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bradyn Lineberry, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Parker Shoup, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Okeechobee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Okeechobee is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Sebastian River, they moved to 6-14 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Okeechobee will take on Varela at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vipers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Brahmans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Sebastian River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
