Recap: Caldwell Hornets vs. Taylor Ducks
Even though the Caldwell Hornets have not done well against the Taylor Ducks recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Caldwell pulled ahead with a 66-65 photo finish over Taylor. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Taylor lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Treos Richardson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Richardson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Eli Laurence, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
The win got Caldwell back to even at 16-16. As for Taylor, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-17.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caldwell will face off against Giddings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Caldwell is coming into the match with three straight victories on the road, so Giddings is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Taylor, they will challenge Smithville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Taylor is facing Smithville at the right time seeing as Smithville is stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
