Baseball Game Preview: Brighton Cardinals vs. Millington Central Trojans

For the second straight game, Brighton will face off against Millington Central. Brighton will be playing in front of their home fans against Millington Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brighton is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

Brighton had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Millington Central on Monday. Brighton's pitcher stepped up to hand Millington Central a 10-0 shutout.

The result came thanks to Brady Ray's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Garrett Glass and Carson Hooper did most of the damage at the plate: Glass scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5, while Hooper got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The dominant performance also gave Hooper a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Kaiden Ingram, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Brighton pushed their record up to 5-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Millington Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.
