Recap: Robertsdale Golden Bears vs. McGill-Toolen Yellowjackets
After flying high against the Chickasaw Chieftains on Wednesday, the Robertsdale Golden Bears came back down to earth. Robertsdale took a serious blow against McGill-Toolen on Friday, falling 67-38. Robertsdale has not had much luck with McGill-Toolen recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Robertsdale's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabe Stevens, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Stevens scored a full 42.1% of Robertsdale's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton McManus, who scored six points along with three steals.
Robertsdale has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for McGill-Toolen, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Robertsdale will take on Spanish Fort at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Spanish Fort is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. McGill-Toolen is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Baldwin County at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Baldwin County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 247 points over their last four matches.
