Basketball Recap: Locust Fork Comes Up Short

Locust Fork was the 55-51 winner over Vinemont when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Locust Fork Hornets had to suffer through a 55-22 loss at the hands of the Vinemont Eagles. The game marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Locust Fork saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Haley Dutton posted nine points and five steals. Dutton has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cortlyn Williamson, who earned four points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Locust Fork dropped their record down to 8-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Vinemont, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Locust Fork wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 44-37 loss against Pennington on the 9th. As for Vinemont, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-36 victory against Hanceville on the 10th.
