Softball Recap: Trinity Christian Academy Has No Trouble Against Riverside

Trinity Christian Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Riverside, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Trinity Christian Academy was the clear victor by a 15-2 margin over Riverside on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won three games by 13 runs or more so far this season.

Haley Lewis made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Abby Davis was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Briley Dunavant was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Trinity Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .559. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory got Trinity Christian Academy back to even at 4-4. As for Riverside, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Trinity Christian Academy Lions challenge Halls Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Trinity Christian Academy has three straight wins, Halls has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field. As for Riverside, they will take on Liberty Tech Magnet at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty Tech Magnet has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.25 runs per game on average), something Riverside will no doubt try to take advantage of.
