Basketball Recap: Antwerp Archers vs. Ayersville Pilots
The Antwerp Archers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight defeat. Their rough 48-25 loss to Ayersville might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Antwerp can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 418th, while the Pilots are ranked 100th).
Ally Schindler continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ayersville, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Schindler hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Craft, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.
Antwerp has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Ayersville, they pushed their record up to 16-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Antwerp will take on the Locomotives at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ayersville, they will be playing at home against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
