Basketball Recap: 21st Century Charter Triumphs

21st Century Charter had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-59 win over the Wapahani Raiders on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since January 1st.

It was another big night for Terrence Hayes, who went 10-for-15 on his way to 24 points and three steals. His morning made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Lemetrius Williams, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

Wapahani lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Camden Bell, who went 9-for-16 en route to 24 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 53% in the last five games he's played. Nate Luce was another key player, shooting 43% from the field on his way to 18 points and five assists.

The win made it two in a row for 21st Century Charter and bumps their season record up to 21-7. As for Wapahani, they moved to 26-2 with that defeat, which also ended their 12-game winning streak.

21st Century Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-50 loss against Manchester on the 22nd. Wapahani does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
