Basketball Recap: Nyomi Hahn's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Marion over Kokomo

Marion lost against Kokomo back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Marion Giants fell 56-44 to the Kokomo Wildkats.

Marion's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nyomi Hahn, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Hahn's evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylee Townsend, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds.

Eliana Stewart continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Kokomo, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 18 rebounds. With that strong performance, Stewart is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Satyra Scott was another key player, going 6 of 14 on her way to 14 points and three steals.

Marion has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Kokomo, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3.

Marion will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Eastern at 1:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025. As for Kokomo, they will be taking part in a tournament against Fort Wayne Wayne at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Kokomo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season.
