Football Recap: Veterans Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Jones County, Veterans was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Statesboro Blue Devils by a score of 29-22. This was payback for the Warhawks, who suffered a 21-10 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Loss or not, Statesboro got some senior leadership from Keon Childers and Gage Newsome. Childers gained 110 total yards and two touchdowns, while Newsome gained 152 total yards.

The win got Veterans back to even at 1-1. As for Statesboro, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Veterans will welcome Starr's Mill at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. After each having a week off, Statesboro and Greenbrier will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on September 5. The contest will give the Blue Devils their first taste of in-conference action this season.
