Basketball Game Preview: Wake Prep Academy Guardians vs. Falls Lake Firebirds

Last Tuesday, Wake Prep Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over NCSSM: Durham, taking the game 56-44.

Wake Prep Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Journey Johnson led the charge by going 5-for-11 en route to 14 points and five steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in each of the last three games she's played. Chelsea Lange was another key player, going 5-for-9 to rack up 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Falls Lake won against Research Triangle on Monday with 65 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Everything went Falls Lake's way against East Wake Academy as Falls Lake made off with a 65-40 win. The Firebirds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Falls Lake is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points over those games. As for Wake Prep Academy, they pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
