Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Matthew Ramirez and Kingston Jeffries Lead Eastwood to Victory

Eastwood lost to El Dorado back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Troopers had just enough and edged out the Aztecs 36-34. The Troopers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Eastwood to victory were Kingston Jeffries and Matthew Ramirez. Jeffries rushed for 82 yards and one TD on only eight carries, while Ramirez gained 182 total yards and a touchdown. Jeffries' longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Jordan Nava also made an appearance on special teams (luckily for Eastwood): his a 47-yard strike wound up winning them the game.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Eastwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 243 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 243 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Eastwood, adding 18 points to the final score. All came from Derik Messer: he went 5-for-5 kicking field goals for 15 points, and 3-for-3 kicking extra points for an additional three.

Despite the loss, El Dorado still got an impressive performance from Ryan Estrada, who rushed for 198 yards and three scores while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Estrada's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his tenth straight game with at least 122 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Eastwood's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for El Dorado, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 3-1.

Eastwood has already played their next game, a 49-13 victory against Socorro on the 25th. As for El Dorado, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-28 win against Bel Air on the 26th.
