Basketball Recap: Ashland Comes Up Short

Ashland and Notre Dame Academy squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Ashland had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Notre Dame Academy Eagles, falling 63-27. While losing is never fun, the Arrows can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd in Ohio, while the Eagles are ranked fourth in Ohio).

Ashland lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Madison Hoffman, who posted ten points.

Ashland moved to 19-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points over those games. As for Notre Dame Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-6.

Ashland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Notre Dame Academy, they will head out to face off against Granville at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Granville will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Notre Dame Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
