Soccer Game Preview: Lincoln-Way East vs. Stagg

The Lincoln-Way East Griffins will head out to face off against the Stagg Chargers at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lincoln-Way East took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Griffins who were credited with the victory. Lincoln-Way East got it done in the shootout by posting seven goals to Andrew's six.

Stagg's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Homewood-Flossmoor 1-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Stagg's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Homewood-Flossmoor are ranked 186th).

Stagg is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those seven matchups. As for Lincoln-Way East, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
