Basketball Recap: Jy'kortnee Brown's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cairo over Thomasville

Cairo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost to the Thomasville Bulldogs at home by a 69-53 margin. The Syrupmakers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Several Syrupmakers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jy'Kortnee Brown, who posted 17 points. Brown's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Steven Thornton Jr was another key player, putting up six points and eight rebounds.

Cairo's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Thomasville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Brooks County the next time they take the court. Cairo will host Brooks County at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Thomasville will head out to face them at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.
