Basketball Recap: Pamlico County Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Pamlico County can now relate to. They lost to the Lakewood Leopards on the road by a 74-55 margin on Tuesday. The match was a 25-25 toss-up at halftime, but the Hurricanes couldn't quite close it out.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lakewood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xavier Hall, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards. Hall is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dashaun Carr, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 17 points and six assists.

Pamlico County is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-16. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points over those games. As for Lakewood, the win (which was their 22nd in a row) raised their record to 22-1.

Pamlico County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lakewood, they have already played their next contest, a 52-42 loss against Bertie on the 28th.
